ABOUT MUCH HADHAM FORGE MUSEUM

Much Hadham Forge Museum is set in a Grade II* listed building situated in the picturesque village of Much Hadham. It features unique Tudor wall paintings as well as a local history gallery displaying collections from both Much and Little Hadham and galleries devoted to the craft of the blacksmith.

The earliest parts of the building date from the 15th century. The forge and bellows room are part of a 17th century barn conversion and in 1811 the shoeing room and blacksmith’s shop were added.

The Museum was first opened in 1991 by the Hertfordshire Building Preservation Trust. The Museum underwent further expansion and refurbishment in 2009, with the support of a Heritage Lottery Fund grant.
